Built with v0

What v0 doesn't set up for you

v0 generates Next.js apps and publishes them to Vercel, so a fair bit of plumbing is sorted: HTTPS, HSTS, and pages rendered on the server. What's left is what no framework can guess, like what your privacy policy should say and whether your analytics waits for consent.

What v0 gives you

Stack
v0 uses Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui. Source: v0.app (opens in a new tab)
Rendering
In Next.js, layouts and pages are Server Components by default and are prerendered to HTML, so most content is in the page before any JavaScript runs. Source: nextjs.org (opens in a new tab)
Hosting
Publishing deploys to Vercel with no setup. You can also export the code and host it elsewhere. Source: v0.app (opens in a new tab)
Databases
One-click integrations include Upstash, Neon, Supabase and Vercel Blob. Adding one sets the environment variables for you. Source: v0.app (opens in a new tab)

What v0 already checks

The checklist

What's still on you

  1. Third-party scripts that load before consent

Vercel's own analytics is designed to avoid third-party cookies. Anything else you add, such as Google Analytics, a Meta pixel or a chat widget, runs as soon as the page loads unless you add consent handling. Neither v0's nor Vercel's docs describe a built-in cookie banner.

Patch checks:Critical Trackers load before consentHigh No cookie banner

  2. A privacy policy that names your integrations

A v0 app can pick up Supabase, Neon, Upstash, Blob storage and payment providers in a few clicks. Each one is a service your privacy policy may need to mention. v0 adds the environment variables; updating the policy is on you.

Patch checks:Critical No privacy policyMedium Privacy policy doesn't mention services the site uses

  3. Content-Security-Policy and the other headers

Vercel's docs describe HSTS as a default. A Content-Security-Policy is something you write for your own app, and the same goes for framing rules and a referrer policy. Check what your live site actually sends.

    Patch checks:Medium No Content-Security-Policy header

  4. Anything marked NEXT_PUBLIC_

Next.js inlines every NEXT_PUBLIC_ variable into the JavaScript sent to the browser at build time. v0 warns about risky use, which helps. A warning can still be dismissed, so check the published bundle for keys that should have stayed on the server.

Patch checks:Critical Secret API key in your JavaScript

  5. Row-level security if you added Supabase

If the app talks to Supabase from the browser, row-level security is what stops one visitor reading another's rows. v0's database docs cover setting up the integration, not the access rules, so those are worth a look.

Patch checks:Critical Supabase tables readable with the public key

  6. Per-page titles, link previews and a sitemap

Server rendering makes blank pages much less likely than with a browser-only app, although content fetched in the browser after load still won't be in the HTML. Next.js has a sitemap file convention, but a sitemap only exists if you add one. Check each route has its own title, description and Open Graph tags.

Patch checks:Medium Pages with missing or duplicate titlesMedium No sitemap.xmlHigh Pages are blank without JavaScript

  7. Renewal wording if you charge a subscription

If you sell a subscription, the sign-up page needs to say what renews, when, for how much, and how to cancel. v0 will build the pricing page; it has no way to know your terms.

Patch checks:High Subscription sold without clear renewal and cancellation terms

  8. Alt text, contrast and form labels

Component libraries help with structure, but they cannot write your alt text or pick your colours. Check images have alt text, text has enough contrast in your theme, and every form field has a label.

Patch checks:Medium Images without alt textMedium Text contrast too lowMedium Form fields without labels

What ShipPatrol adds
