What Lovable doesn't set up for you
Lovable gets an app from idea to published URL quickly, and it now scans your code and database before you publish. What it can't know is which laws apply to your visitors, what your privacy policy promises, or what your live site does in a browser in Frankfurt. That part is still yours.
What Lovable gives you
- Stack and rendering
- New projects created from 13 May 2026 use TanStack Start, which renders each page on the server. Older projects are React + Vite apps that render in the browser; for those, Lovable serves pre-rendered copies of published pages to verified search engines and social preview bots. - Backend
- Lovable Cloud is the built-in backend (database, storage, authentication, realtime and functions). It is enabled by default and built on Supabase's open-source foundation. You can connect your own Supabase project instead. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
- Hosting
- Publishing to a lovable.app address is free on all plans; custom domains are on paid plans. New projects deploy as Cloudflare Workers; older ones were served as static files from Cloudflare Pages. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
What Lovable already checks
- A Quick scan runs when you publish. It checks database access rules (row-level security), npm dependency vulnerabilities and MCP servers exposed without sign-in. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
- A Deep scan, started from the Security view, reviews your code for access control, unauthenticated endpoints, injection, leaked secrets, payment logic, authentication and personal data in errors and logs. Enterprise workspaces can schedule it. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
- API keys pasted into chat are steered into Secrets rather than hardcoded into the app. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
- An SEO & AI search review checks metadata, indexing, structured data, Open Graph previews, the sitemap and robots.txt. It is free on all plans. Source: docs.lovable.dev (opens in a new tab)
What's still on you
Analytics and pixels that load before consent
Lovable's scans look at your code, database and dependencies. They don't check which third-party scripts fire when a visitor lands. If you've added Google Analytics, a Meta pixel or a chat widget, they may load before anyone clicks Accept. In the UK and EU, non-essential cookies need consent first.
Patch checks:Critical Trackers load before consentHigh No cookie banner
A privacy policy that matches what the app does
Lovable's docs don't describe a privacy policy feature, and its scans don't read one. If you generated a policy, check it names the services the app really uses: your backend, payments, email, analytics. A policy that skips a service the site loads is the kind of gap a visitor or regulator notices.
Patch checks:Critical No privacy policyMedium Privacy policy doesn't mention services the site uses
Database rules after the last change
Credit where due: the Quick scan flags tables without row-level security, and rules that let everyone through, on every publish. Rules change as features get added, though, and edits made directly in your own Supabase project happen outside Lovable. Supabase's publishable key is meant to be public, so RLS is what actually protects the data.
Patch checks:Critical Supabase tables readable with the public keyCritical Secret API key in your JavaScript
Keys baked into the browser bundle
Lovable tries to keep secrets server-side, and the Deep scan looks for leaked ones. On older React + Vite projects, anything in a VITE_ variable ends up in the JavaScript every visitor downloads. It's worth checking the published bundle, not just the code you remember writing.

Security headers on the live site
Lovable's docs don't describe a setting for response headers such as Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options or Referrer-Policy. That doesn't mean none are sent, only that you should look at what your published site actually returns.
Patch checks:Medium No Content-Security-Policy header
Titles, link previews and crawlable pages
Projects created before 13 May 2026 render in the browser. Verified search engines and social bots get a pre-rendered copy, but other tools see a mostly empty page until JavaScript runs. Either way, every route needs its own title, description and Open Graph tags. The SEO review helps when you run it.
Patch checks:High Pages are blank without JavaScriptMedium Pages with missing or duplicate titlesMedium No sitemap.xml
Renewal wording if you charge a subscription
An AI builder will happily wire up a checkout. The words around it are yours: what renews, when, for how much, and how to cancel. Many places have rules about how clearly that must be shown before someone pays.
Patch checks:High Subscription sold without clear renewal and cancellation terms
Alt text, contrast and form labels
None of Lovable's documented scans cover accessibility. Images need alt text, text needs enough contrast against its background, and form fields need labels a screen reader can announce.
Patch checks:Medium Images without alt textMedium Text contrast too lowMedium Form fields without labels
What ShipPatrol adds
- Visits your live site from the UK, EU and US, clicks Accept and Reject on the cookie banner, and records every request each time.
- Reads your privacy policy and compares what it says with the services the site actually loads.
- Keeps watching after you ship: daily re-scans, a deploy hook and an email when something new appears.
- Paid reports include fix prompts written to paste straight back into Lovable.
