Cookie banner checker: does my site need one, and does it have one?

Not every site needs a cookie banner. Sites that use analytics, ad pixels or chat widgets usually do. ShipPatrol checks whether you need one and whether your visitors see one.

Why it matters

If your site uses cookies or storage that aren't strictly necessary, visitors in the UK and the EU have to be asked first. No banner means nobody was asked. If your site only uses things that need no consent, you don't need a banner, and Patch won't pretend otherwise.

How Patch checks

We load your homepage from each region and look for a known consent tool or anything that looks like a consent prompt. We only raise this when we also found services that need consent, such as {services}.

How to fix it

  1. Either remove what needs consent or add a consent banner.
  2. If you add one, give Accept and Reject equal weight on the first screen and keep the services blocked until the visitor accepts.
  3. Add a "Cookie settings" link in your footer so people can change their mind.

Your own report goes further: it names the exact pages, services and settings Patch found on your site, and with a full report you get a fix prompt to paste into Lovable, Bolt or Cursor.
