Sitemap checker: does your site have a sitemap.xml?

A sitemap lists the pages you want search engines to find. Small sites can get by without one, but it's an easy win. ShipPatrol looks for yours.

Why it matters

Sitemaps help Google discover new and updated pages, especially on sites where pages aren't well linked, which includes most single-page apps.

How Patch checks

We read Sitemap lines in robots.txt and try /sitemap.xml and /sitemap_index.xml.

How to fix it

  1. Generate a sitemap.xml listing your public pages (most frameworks have a plugin).
  2. Publish it at https://your site/sitemap.xml and add a Sitemap line to robots.txt.
  3. Submit it in Google Search Console.

Your own report goes further: it names the exact pages, services and settings Patch found on your site, and with a full report you get a fix prompt to paste into Lovable, Bolt or Cursor.

Where this applies

Applies to every site that wants search traffic.
