JavaScript SEO checker: can crawlers see your content without JavaScript?

Sites built as single-page apps often send an empty page and build everything in the browser. People see a website. Many crawlers and link previews see nothing. ShipPatrol compares the two.

Why it matters

Google can render JavaScript, but it does so later and not always completely. Social link previews and many AI crawlers don't run JavaScript at all, so they see an empty page. Pre-rendering fixes all of them at once.

How Patch checks

We fetch your pages as plain HTML, count the words, and compare that with the words visible after the page has run its JavaScript in a real browser.

How to fix it

  1. Pre-render or server-render your public pages. For Vite and React apps, a pre-render step such as vite-plugin-prerender or moving to a framework with static generation (Astro, Next.js, Remix) works.
  2. At minimum, put the real title, description and main heading in the HTML your server sends.
  3. Check with "View page source" (not Inspect): your main text should be there.

Your own report goes further: it names the exact pages, services and settings Patch found on your site, and with a full report you get a fix prompt to paste into Lovable, Bolt or Cursor.
